At 3:20 am, the alarm sounded, two and a half hours ahead of schedule. He looked at the clock to confirm the time and saw, in the shadow of the moonlight penetrating through a crack in the window, that someone was sitting in the chair to his right at the end of his bed.

“What are you doing here?” he asked. “How did you get in?” There were no answers, and the shadow remained in the same place, but he asked again. “What do you want? You will answer me if you are there, or you are part of my imagination that got tired of being ignored by my reality and has come looking for a way out of your loneliness to keep me company in my burrow.”

The shadow in the chair faced the corner of the window, arms crossed behind him, gazing outward. “Have you seen tonight’s full moon? Its fullness throughout the universe, and how its radiance is noticeable in every corner of this planet? I come from a similar place, but of much more dignity. You have brought me here to this hole with your emotional instability, and I have come to answer your concerns and give you answers about what does not have answer.”

He closed his eyes and opened them again to see if it was the effect of the bottle of tequila he had consumed before going to bed, but the shadow of that person remained as if…
